Brace Yourself For the Cicadas!
Way back in 1998 having a garden was the fartherest thing from my mind. Now it's 13 years later and I keep hearing about this plague of cicadas that will take place in a few weeks.

Cicadas are here and thrumming away! They haven't bothered anything here, at least not yet -- they seem mostly clustered along the creek. I'm less worried about them harming my vegetables and tender plants than I am the plague of grasshoppers in my lower field.... hopefully, the mockingbirds and bluebirds will feast and then invite their friends to the banquet, too.
