Comment by Arden on Monday Glenda, I agree with you about the smaller flowered Clematis. I think they are often of the viticella group: Venosa Violacea, Betty Corning, Polish Spirit and Mme Julia Correvon are a few I've had luck with. I haven't tried propagating them ..YET.
Comment by Glenda Truscott z8 on Monday Sharon, I have heard that the small blooming clematis are sturdier than the big flowering ones. I have a small pink flowering clematis that is almost indistructable. I have started new plants from off sets of it and they are huge in two years. You can cut it to the ground and it wil bloom the next year.

HAVE A WONDERFUL MEMORIAL WEEKEND...HAPPY GARDENING !

Comment by Florist by trade Gardener by <3 on May 21, 2012 at 1:26pm Sharon, We planted a pink perfection/pink fantasy clematis(tiny pink flowers, with vanilla scent) and it stood in our harsh Washington weather...that might help you out! Check out my pics to see what it looks like. Good luck!
My clematis are all but gone due to wind or rain. Must find a clematis hardier and a longer bloomer. Anyone have any suggestions?

BEAUTIFUL PICS EVERYONE... TEMPTED TO TRY THEM OUT. MUST SEE HOW MY PURPLE WILL WORK OUT...HAPPY GARDENING !
