Brenda, when you say Heritage roses, are you talking about the variety?  I had a David Austin Heritage rose that was pale pink.  Or do you mean antique roses?  Very nice project!

Rosarians,

Trying to bring back the "old roses" and I applied for a grant through the Master Gardener Program in Wisconsin and my project was chosen for 2011. I am putting in a Heritage Rose Garden at the local historical museum in our city. There will be 24 Heritage Roses - all dated prior to 1867. How educational and fun the project has already been! The roses are ordered along with 8 yards of topsoil and 4 yards of mulch for Memorial weekend - cannot wait to see the finished project.

Any suggestions/ideas, do's and don'ts on putting in a public display garden are welcome.

Happy Rose planting - now if the weather just cooperates and don't snow any more!

Hi Old Rosers:

Here is a site you may find helpful: www.helpmefind.com/rose/index.php

It has roses, especially the old ones, peonies, and clematis information and searches to help identify roses.

Hi Antique Rose lovers!  My roses in SC are all nicely leafed out right now and I was wondering if it is time to spray to prevent black spot and other rose diseases.  I am obviously not going organic with this.  I bought a sprayer, a mask, and several recommended concoctions that 'help' prevent these diseases and need to know when (if not right now) is the best time to spray?  Thanks, Roz

I bought 4 tiny "own root" roses a couple of years ago and not one survived. I kept them in pots on my front porch and thought that I took care of them. what's your secret?

Hey Audrey-They sometimes are very small roses like James Galway but photographed close up it does look like a comfy place to lay one's head down-so soft.
