I've always wanted bamboo. Does anyone know what kind will grow in zone 5 and where I will be able to get some?

This is my second summer here on 2 acres in Northeast TN...noticed on edge of property in back is a patch of bamboo growing at least 12ft tall, I recognized the canes and was very surprised as have never seen them growing here nor where I come from in MI. We had a super cold winter here last year like MI gets yet the canes seem fine. They remind me of fishing poles that I used as a child...LOL Is this normal for them to grow in TN?

Thanks Sheri, that helped save me some money...from just throwing it away. I had thought it liked wet feet.

Hi everyone. Question, are bamboo possibly bog type plants that can survive outdoors in Northern Pa year round? Thanks

I live in south Florida, zone 10, and I have a patch of blue bamboo - it's so beautiful, and provides great privacy!
