Hi, as an old member of the Iris Society and a new member at this site, I don't know if you all soak your iris Rhizome in a 10% Bleach and 90% water after removing them from you're bed and before…Continue

Comment by Robin (N.IL zone 5) on May 28, 2013 at 7:39pm Yes, I have extras in a holding area. I have to get the weeds out from that area. So I can see if any of them are blooming. I believe there are 3 types in there.
This year I have a new one that will be flowering in the pond, Last year the lake where a friend lives was low so I convinced him to dig me up some of the iris and cattails so I could put them in our pond.
Comment by Lorraine Smith Pacific NW on May 28, 2013 at 7:39pm I will have some of the old fashioned kinds ready to go in September. I am replacing them because I probably have over a hundred of those two --Dauntless & Calif Gold. . . .
Comment by Lorraine Smith Pacific NW on May 28, 2013 at 7:35pm Looks like you have a few iris yourself--I saw some growing in your "holding area"? About 3 yrs ago I decided since they were my favorites, I would actually spend some $$ accumulating a few different kinds. That opened the floodgates to friends & neighbors donating to the cause. I use Preet & yes mulch to keep the billions of weeds down. I don't have alot of sun beyond minimum 6 hours. Some years our weather will be too darn dreary & they won't even bloom. If I ever get a surplus though, I will remember you! Fellow iris devotees are somewhat rare in these parts. . .
Comment by Robin (N.IL zone 5) on May 28, 2013 at 5:31pm I'm drooling here Lorraine. If you ever want to share, they will find a happy home here. :)

Comment by Lorraine Smith Pacific NW on May 28, 2013 at 5:06pm Nancy, I gotta give you credit. Your macros of iris touched me way down deep. I just love taking iris portraits every day. Catching the right light is enormously satisfying. Thank God for flowers, colors and digital cameras. . .
Thank you Robin, Randy & iris lovers everywhere. Here's a mystery iris for you. I researched all one day last week & could not find the name.

Comment by Randy Anderson zn.5/Il. USA on May 28, 2013 at 2:23pm Loved your Iris Collection Lorraine. I couldn't pick a favorite but I always lean towards the solid colors, but your shaded multi-colors are so fabulous........
