New Form of this Group

I have perused various ideas how to arrange the group so that the stories stand out against the comments. I love both and want to give plenty of room for all.

What I am going to do is pick out the best stories and feature them under the heading in the discussion forum. That way new visitors to this group will be able to read them with minimal problems.

Please continue to put them in the general comment section and I will pull out the best and put them in a separate section.

Thanks!

Blessings all and keep writing funny, (sad, scary), stories!

My son at age 5 attended a Montessori school where they faithfully held with Maria Montessori's concept of "follow the child." He and his good friend at that time, became interested in earth worms. So, for nearly an entire season, the two boys dug worms in the school yard while their very inventive teacher adapted their math, reading, writing, geography all while keeping the boys excited and imaginative. Now, at 21, a university junior, my son loves to garden and is surprised by how much he knows about soil aeration, organic fertilizer and worms.

For over 20 years I've been trying to get my hands on a red Angel Trumpet ever since I saw one in San Francisco's Golden Gate park. It was love at first sight. I ended up having yellow, white, pink, & purple but couldn't find the red. I tried eBay and ordered seeds and cuttings but they didn't make it so finally I gave up thinking the weather around me (California) is not right or something. Yesterday while house hunting for my son, we came across an old home with a huge red Angel Trumpet bush. I got my husband to go to the door and see if the owner was willing to sell me cuttings. Eventually a real old lady came to the back door but unfortunetly didn't speak any English and no amount of sign language worked. Thank God my son speaks some Spanish and was able to tell her what I was asking. The sweet old woman made her way slowly to the front and broke two huge pieces of the bush and gave them to me. I tried to pay her but she refused. I was so happy I wanted to dance. The old woman laughed at my antics and gave me a hug. I wonder if she realized how precious her generousity was to me. Aren't gardeners great?

Hahahaha! Memories of the dairy farm the parents of my best friends in second grade had.....I remember green up to my ankles just walking through the main part. My parents made me remove my shoes when I got in the car! hahahahahah

I had just moved into my new house and although I had helped my mother with her gardening I really didn't know anything. Well, a neighbor pulled up in front of the house when he saw me working in the yard and asked me if I'd like some manure for the gardens. Naturally, I said yes. Well - he had a cattle farm - the manure was fresh alright - it poured out of the dump truck!! It took a major effort not to gag as I thanked him and then ran into the house. That pile was ripe for weeks!!
