I'd be worried about the cat in the blinds too! Our hummingbirds seem a little behind in our area too. I'm just beginning to see them this past week.

Nancy, great pictures of the Oriole. My cat trys to hang herself in my blinds when she sees a bird close. I have to put her in the hallway if I leave. I expect any day now the Orioles will be here. I heard people say they are in our area but not the ones that come here.

Yea Beth I've spotted nests in nearby trees. I swear the first year they were knocking on our doors and taunting our cat and were very gregarious and bold!we've enjoyed their company since 2008.

check these out!

I have waaay too many Elizabeth but I can't help myself.  they are too close together to really attrack birds but every once in a whle one will nest...i have a lot of activity in my small yard andlots of squirrels that are into everything and I think that is a deterrent as well...plus the feeders are close to the houses too.  oh well what can ya do..I'm hooked on houses!!!  Nancy love the birds drinking the sugar water.  I've heard they do that but never seen it...how very cool!! do they stay around long or are they just visiting??  My little downy woodpecker was drinking at the sugar water last year and I have butterflies that will do it to.

Georgia Peach Heuchera

"Agreed! Heucheras are tough little plants and the different colors they come in are so pretty. And to me, a big bonus is that they seem to be critter-resistant here. I love the Limelight heuchera, too. What a great idea to pair it with the Peach…"

Gold Heart Bleeding Heart Brighten the Front Border

"Thanks so much for the feedback, Grant. It means a lot coming from such a knowledgeable gardener as you! Yes, all of our bleeding hearts go dormant as soon as it starts to get hot. Last year, I overplanted these with coleus. Will probably do the…"

Back Beds in Mid-Spring

"Thanks Grant. The solar lighthouse was a gift and at night, the top lights up and spins around. Regarding the edging, we make the hard shovel edge once in the spring and then maybe once around August and it stays pretty nice."
