I will work on reducing the roots after I am sure the tree is managing the stress from topping it. I can not find that web site again that has good instructions for topping a Redwod and making it into a Bonsai. Any advice I would appreciate it. Is there a web site that deals with Redwood Bonsai ? iamdnn4@comcast.net

I found a page a few weeks ago on how to top a Redwood and bring the top branch up to create a wide base that has a nice taper as an old growth tree would have naturally. I know it takes many years to perfect a Bonsai tree like this. I purchase a three gallon tree from Home Depot for $ 20.00 and cut the top of at an angel and brought the top branch up and staked it. I have not touched the roots yet

I would like some advise on growing my first Coastal Red Wood Bonsai tree.
I live in northern California so our climate is perfect for Redwood trees.
