Comment by Carole on May 23, 2012 at 7:47am I'm so glad you found something. I'm going to try some things from their site also. They are really good at answering questions too and they get very good reviews from others who purchase from them. Good luck with it!
Thanks, Carole, I checked them out, and the site was very helpful. I ended up ordering a Nelly Moser because the color, shade tolerance and size all fit what I needed! Thank you!
Comment by Carole on May 13, 2012 at 11:39am Marlene, take a look at the clematis choices at www.gardenvines.com
They have some small, medium and tall varieties with large flowers, small bell shaped flowers, etc. Really beautiful choices and there's a selection tool they have to find the ones that will do best in your zone.
Question.... I need ideas for a flowering vine that isn't too vigorous, as in I want some color but it's in a small narrow space. I got a nice trellis about 6 ft high, and the width is about 3 ft. Any thoughts? The space gets afternoon sun and is often breezy. I appreciate any thoughts you have!
Mary, I took one of those solar fountains (the ones that have 3 bowls that empty into each other, then into a bigger bowl at the bottom) and turned it into a cactus garden. I put gravel on the bottom, then cactus potting mix and took various cuttings from my garden. It's very cute, and think your birdbath idea is great. A woman in my neighborhood did the same thing with a large pedestalled birdbath and it looks really great, especially once the plants grow in.
