Window Box Help
Here is the front of my house... as you can see I have a brick ledge... below this window is a window well for my basement and sidewalk. Thus the wooden trellis (flimsy) to keep people from falling into the window well. Anyway I want to put up a window box... any ideas???? Thanks, Kristi

How about a raised box, like the old fashioned wicker ones, that fits over the window well and would still let in light because of the tall legs. I made an extra deep box for my windows and inserted the wider/deeper plastic pots that are made to fit over railings. It could be as deep to the sill as the well. (Holds more dirt and water that way)

A window box might actually "signal" people that it's there? Or extend far enough to keep people far enough away? Otherwise could you put trellis flat over the well?

For those who have replied, and to others... I plan to have a metal trellis built to the same height as the one I have now so I can replace the wooden onces which are starting to show weakness and then put some pots to the sides and put a few plants that can climb the trellis. There is a sidewalk that runs from the driveway to the porch... which is right there in front of the window well... thus the trellis for safety in front of the window well area. The window well is deep... 4.5 feet deep.. so building a stand for the window box probably would not work. I am looking more for ideas on how to hang a window box so I can see the flowers from inside the house too. But most window boxes are made for hanging with brackets to the wall.. doesn't seem workable with my setup here. Any other thoughts??? I might do verticals up the side of the windows.. but was hoping for a box across the front of the window as a first choice. Thanks.
