Has ANYONE had any luck with the squirrels!  You can see my page for all the stuff I've done!  I love them but enough is enough!!!  Way TOO many squirrels!  They raise their families on my property!

Sorry Sheron, I feel your pain. Love the squirrels on one level, but they are a pain in the butt. Unfortunately, I have not had any luck deterring them and as for them raising families on your property, I don't think they differentiate and simply go where they have everythine they need. Food, water, shelter.
Thanks for the comment. I was only cracking a joke about the "raising families on my property". You are correct about them going where they have everything they need. They love the pergola area but seem to stay away from the pond. I think what we have in mind now might help! Thanks!
I just took this photo for you Sheron. This is a huge beech tree that the grey squirrels nest and raise families in twice a year. I also have walnut and hickory trees in our yard. Our yard is Heaven for the squirrels. We also have flying squirrels that nest in the beech tree. On top of all that, I feed them. The only problem I have with them is keeping them out of the bird feeders, and THAT can be quite the challenge. It is so comical to watch them try and figure a way around my deterrents.

Thanks for the pic, we have wallnut tree right by the pegola, black walnut and our entire area is a squirrel haven they have nest in our maple trees and it is very cute to watch them with out deteriants!!! Hubby physically caught over 55 last summer and released them about 6 blocks away in our huge Manito Park with a kabillion other squirrels!!!

Thanks Elizabeth, we feed them for years, I'm talking 20+ but then when I planted tulips they would just not leave them alone no matter how much food I gave them and when we realized that they had made homes in our house we knew we had to do something! We will see how it is come spring. Thanks and I'll keep ya posted!
We have squirrels around our place, but they are very leery about spending much time on the ground due to the cats that live here.  Our cats are barn cats, so they are actually half feral, hunting during the spring, summer, fall for food, and relying on us for both the winter months, and the food we put out for when they have no success hunting.  They love gophers, moles, squirrels and birds as big as pheasant.  They are like a little lion pride, whoever catches something brings it back to the barn to share with everyone.  The males even teach the babies to hunt and protect them.  We lost a big male when he stood between a raccoon and his babies, giving the females enough time to evacuate the three little ones.  I know, they are strange cats.  The squirrels have learned the hard way that my garden is a dangerous place for them.  They stay away because they never know when the cats are going to arrive to look around.
This squirrel seems to be boss at my mom's yard. I was watering for my mom the other day and the squirrel was unsure about me.
we too have many squirrels to the point my habitat now has broought in a new resident- red tail hawk- sorry but glad to see the hawk - he is here everyday now- hope he stays around all winter, we are putting up a owl house as soon as the fields get plowed down, hopeing to hear them soon to- way to many rodents this season, we even had huge rats eating the pumpkins & corn cobbs-found them trying to pull them down in the holes.
