Fence Cover-ups

If you're solved the "boring" fence look with an imaginative cover-up, this discussion group is for you. Or ornamentation or structure works, too. If you're still seeking a solution, maybe someone will contribute an idea you can use.

Cover-up Solutions?

Got any suggestions?

There are lots of vines (most like the sun or will tolerate partial shade):
Confederate jasmine, Coral honeysuckle, Ivy, Bougainvillea, Carolina jessamine, Flame vine

Ivy and Creeping fig can tolerate anything from full sun to deep shade.

I'm tending toward structure (trelliage or structural enhancements) and ornamentation, because I have limited space in front of my fence adjacent to a basketball court, but Im open to suggestons and will see what looks good on paper first.

What have you tried? Got a picture to go with your suggestion?

Carla, that looks beautiful...just like white lattice (which is pricey).  Too bad it doesn't last a long time...

Deborah,

I found this internet site with interesting-looking fence coverups for chain-link fences.  I didn't check pricing...probably rather high...but you should check it out anyway.

Deborah, I know someone who took that white vinyl lattice stuff and tied it to her chain link fence.  I looked great.  You can buy the edge pieces to make it look more finished.  It can also be painted any color you want.

What a great group! I'm looking for ideas for my chain link fence. Any unique decorative ideas are welcome. Does not have to "cover up" the fence, just make it more interesting on the gated side.  TIA,

Elizabeth, Thanks for sharing... I did check out your pictures posted earlier... great ideas. I like the lighthouses, are the birdhouses? And I like the painted windows..

Would like to generate some discussion on this group. I am developing a "fence" project... I want to add large boards in front of my current dull grey fence... looking for pictures or website images that show painted fences or garden walls... the more color and abstract the better... anyone have any pictures to share?... thanks.

Wow! As you have said, there is a lot of creativity and thought put into this. Thanks for sharing....the roses remind me of the Rose Bowl logo. pretty neat!

Discovered this fence "coverup" on a trip out to my daughter's school. I get lost easily, so I'm not sure I could find it again if I tried. It is very elaborate, but shows what can be done to cover a fence if you've got an unlimited budget and/or a ton of time to work on it. Glad I had my camera with me.

Thanks so much everybody for your ideas. I considered willows before, fast growing and beautiful everygreen. I'm sure I'll find somebody who's willing to share some cuttings with me. Hopefully I'll post some pictures of better looking fence cover up next time.

Does it truly eat cukes?  I'm growing them for the first time ever this year, don't…
