Comment by Glenda Truscott z8 on Monday I salute your ability to do the weaving on those chairs. No one leaves things on the side of the street here. I sure wish they did. What great finds. I love the rocker! You lucky girl.
Comment by Carol Howard/ Louisiana on May 22, 2012 at 6:47am this is the other chair I found. I have finished weaving now it just needs paint and a cushion. Both of these will go on my screened in porch. will post pic when I finish. screened in porch is all finds and given rattan and bamboo.

Yvonne, from the photo of the back of the swing it looks like the cushion was slid on over the bars. I would guess that might be the same with the bottom, though they could be also reinforced with bolts going through the fabric, especially if you don't feel any slats or bars when sitting down.
But what you can do is figure out how to slide the cushions off then pull the threads at the seams and use the pieces of material as your templates for new cushions. You could even just pull the threads while it’s on the swing. a pair of cuticle scissors would work great for this.
As for the chairs, look into cane weaving (I think that is what it's called) There are places that you can order the cane in different sized strips to weave with. Plus there are videos and instructions out there.
Comment by Glenda Truscott z8 on May 21, 2012 at 7:09pm Wonderful pics girls. I really liked the fence art! I agree with Therese, those chairs would be wonderful covered with moss, you could use fishing like to hold it on, and have vines growing on it. It kinda sounds like you want them to be useable though. I learned macremae(sp) 40 years ago from a book. I haven't done it since but if I could do it anyone could. I have no talent in that area. Vicky, I am ancious to see your pis of the chair too.
