This is growing on my yard fence by my some berry vines. Does anyone know what it is? It turns into a green small ball after it blooms.

No but it is sooo cool! It almost reminds me of a clematis.
Passionvine , scrambles over 20 ft. or so. Will die down to the ground in winter but will come back from the roots every year.
Wow, Diane says it grows over 20ft!! Fama, what will you do with it? It is so unusual looking, is this another of the "accidental gardening" surprises?
It's fabulous, but I don't know it's name!
I forgot to say that it is a perennial in zones 9/10 but I grow it in zone 6 so that is why I said it dies back in winter, always comes back though. It comes in deep purple, lavender, pink, redish and white. Mine always gets at least 6ft. tall, save the seed pods (the fruit) they easily grow from seed for me after all frost is gone.
Passion Flower
Lush Twining Tendrils

Commemorates the Crucifixion, according to legend— white flowers wearing a spike crown of violet are unusual and unique. Large blooms are followed by egg-shaped deep orange fruits that have a flavor reminiscent of blackberries and are good for baking. Benefits from hoop or trellis support and enjoys full sun.

Potted plants. Zones: 8 - 10 (20° F.)
Height: 20 ft.
Spacing: pots
Depth: same as pot
Spread: varies
Sun/Shade: Full sun
Yield: varies
Color: Creamy white with voilet-blue filaments
Foliage: 5 lobed
Blooms: summer and fall
Fruit: 2 inch diameter, edible
Comments: Likes a large pot and trellis support. Needs 4 hours or more direct sunlight from a south window. Keep very moist during growth and flowering; allow to dry between watering at other times. Requires moist air/humidity. Day temperature 70-75 degrees F; night temperature 55-60 degrees F. Fertilize only when plant is actively growing or flowering. Will not bloom in low light. Few pests. SOIL SHOULD BE MOIST, BUT NOT OVERLY SOGGY. FREQUENT MISTING TO PLANT WITH CLEAR WATER WILL PROVIDE HUMIDITY. THIN, LEATHERY FRUIT CONTAINS NUMEROUS FLAT EDIBLE SEEDS IN A JUICY, YELLOWISH PULP. AN OUTSTANDING SOURCE OF VITAMINS A AND C.
I thought it was some kind of wild weed vine. Who knew? I guess I will let it grow and start watering it. Do I feed it? Thanks so much for the responses. I have no idea where the seed blew in from. Have never seen one before so it is a big surprise. I feel like I won a prize and I never win the prize!!! Thanks everyone.
It is very interesting looking. 20 ft. tall-OMG!
It's on the fence so I guess it will be 20 feet long? OMG look out chickens!!!!!
what a beauty.......I have never seen anything like it before,,,of course I guess I wouldnt have since I live in the hot Arizona dessert
I am hoping this will be perennial/reseed On Long Island- I just love the whole idea of this. Between the religious lore and the edible quality. And of course the beauty.
I looked up Passion vine, and it does look similar!
