Memorial Gardens
My husband's best friend just passed away and as a way to remember him, I wanted to create a memory garden for his wife and family. Does anyone have any ideas of where to start?

I have a friend in my garden club who constructed one...Hers is in memory of her husband and is a fenced (she has a fancy wrought iron one) area with a path through it...Included in it she has plants from the funeral, tribute plants from friends, a few Large Angel statues, stone bench and plants mentioned in the Bible...It is truly beautiful...If I can I will see if I can get a jpeg of it from her...

Good question, and good idea. I would think: do you want it on the family's own grounds or elsewhere; does the family, have favorite flowers, shrubs, trees, and/or did he; budget; are they showy people or very down played in their lives; would they like the memorial garden to also be functional as an everyday reminder of their loved one; would they also like to include wildlife, i.e. bird feeders, baths, etc..; did the loved one prefer one season over another and you could display that in your 'garden'; just a few ideas off the top of my head right now. Very nice gesture!!!
