I'm looking for an inexpensive option for the paths through my flower and herb gardens.  I don't want grass pathways that need mowing.  Any ideas other than mulch?

Azi, I found some at our ReStore. However, most of the pieces were very smooth and I was worried about how slippery they might be outside. How are yours? Any problem with walking on them after a rain? Athena
This is a great idea and you path is lovely and unique!
Wow...this has been so informative!!!

Love this.  I even like the sound gravel makes when you walk over it or drive over it.

Trying to save money after masses of over budget things happened when building our house, we put down 2 gravel paths along the side of our house.  Our bitzer border collie Pippa just loves lying on them in the summer as they are on the shaded part of the house and stay amazingly cold, so two purposes served by our cheap gravel paths!

Plus like Garden Gal and Paula, I too love that crunchy sound when you walk on them.

What are the yellow flowers alongside the path Garden Gal? They look gorgeous.

I like the color of the gravel path.  Looks like those are yellow columbine.  I have quite a lot of columbine and really love them.
Many thanks Garden Gal - I have heard of them, but never seen them actually growing in anyone's garden. (Would you believe we do actually have some lollies over here also called Columbines, the most delicious chewy toffees! - sorry getting off the subject, I will end up getting a smack on the hand!)

I have use slate and old use bricks.

They can stay all winter long and during the spring here if they move a bit addmore dirt around the area.

It sops most of the grass from coming up  love it

Hello

I have use white rock pepples that you can buy at Home Depot.

I buy the bags that have been damage they give you a discount on those.

Will be working on it in a few days gain will upload pics.

I live in an area where we have many granite companies.  I stop by and they give me whatever scraps I want large and small, usually smooth and pretty, irregular shapes and sizes.  Costs me nothing. They can't use it. I will post pics of my 'granite' garden when it is complete.
