You sound like me this time of year except I get them sooner. Guess it's because I'm way far south of you. I've got toms, peppers and a few eggplant up already. Just barely, but up. What is your website URL? And have you ever checked out www.seedsavers.com?
Hi Charlie

my web site is www.theseedbasket.com

I will check out www.seedsavers.com Not sure if I have or not. Yesterday the ground hog didn't see his shadow here so spring is on the way. Hurray!
Hi Charlie! How did you like the big snow?! I bet your son had his hands full on the job over the last 2 days! I'm glad nobody I know had an accident or lost electricity (or at least as far as I know). I am going to order some blue corn from seedsavers; I'll let you know how that works out. My peppers are up, and my tomatoes are sprouting. I wish my windowsills were sunnier; I am hoping to set up one of those 4-light fluorescent homemade units next year so I can start more stuff from seed. Then who knows; maybe a small greenhouse? Wouldn't that be neat!

I received my www.seedsavers.com catalogue! Now I can order my blue corn - I'll let everyone know how it goes. I just planted my radish and carrot seeds, a little late, I know, especially if it goes from cold to hot here like it often does. And I planted 4 broccoli plants (enough for just me) and cutworms or birds got 3 of them! I had turned the soil and don't remember seeing any cutworms (earthworms, yes-hallelujah!), so maybe it was birds. Inside, my tomato and pepper seeds are coming along just fine, just beginning to form their second set of leaves. Oh glory, I haven't planted seeds inside much before, and I am thrilled they are coming up! One thing: I used a popular seed-starting mix, and I noticed that this year it had a lot more pieces in it, instead of being fine and granular, like vermiculite is. Maybe next year I'll use straight vermiculite to start my seeds. I had to pick pieces out of my pots because I was afraid they would block the seeds from coming up.
