Does anyone have any suggestions for winter wedding flowers? Thanks!

I finally showed my newest arrangement at our garden club show on thursday... I was so frustrated with the foam not sticking to the bottom so I just weighted down a plastic small dish with oasis, then after adding water it rose up to the top very fast.  I had no time so I put the dish back down and weight it down with marbles and put my flowers into the oasis, to that I put down more marbles and left it alone until I got to the show and then I added more water, and it stayed down without floating....finally success, It took 1st place.

I usually glue down my oasis with a flower glue but it is so expensive $9 a tube here so I used stick-um last week and it just didn't hold the oasis as it crumbles.   I have also had trouble holding the oasis as it melts glue.  It is a difficult job.  If I do one for a show I usually start the arrangement at home and then when I get to the show I add more water.  It does help if one does use rocks and marbles to hold the arrangement under the water.  Thanks Moonbeam for your suggestion.

Hi Jan,

One way to do underwater arrangements, is to glue oasis to the bottom of the container. However, for a show you'd have to hid the oasis sides, so you can wrap it with leaves that are glued (uglue dots) to the oasis. Or, simply use the clear uglue dots to glue the flower directly down in the container.

This is what I'm trying to describe:

my flowers have a tendency to float up to the top...

I use oasis or marbles.  I also use a twist tie after I make the arrangement to hold it in place and it makes it heavier because they are all bunched together.  It works really well with hydrangeas or any plants that are top-heavy.

Does anyone on this site know how to make the flowers in an underwater arrangement STAY UNDER WATER!

Walked out on the patio just in time to see all the birds take off and a Kestrel land on our neighbor's roof---bright, bright sky today, so the picture is not real clear---always like to see the Kestrels though---

Thanks, all.  I don't like how the pic is all squished in the first view, but if you click on it you get the full, non-compressed size.  I usually reduce the size before hitting "post" but forgot, LOL.  If you look…
