Don't know the name for this azelea. I call it Apple Blossom Froth. I am probably at a bit higher elevation than you Diane. My rhodies are in full regalia still (except the rain might do them in today) I am glad I have been taking photos all week. They are in the best mood I have ever seen this year.
My garden is definitely in full bloom, the weeds are growing fast but the ground is still damp so weeding is easy of the most part. Have all my vegetables in and they are growing very well. So far very few slugs/snails in my large Hosta beds. I have blue hosta as a border and the little critters don't like them because of the heavy leaves, Rhodes are almost done except for a couple of late varieties, everything is filling in nicely. I plant my beds quite full so the weeds can't find a space, it seems to work for me.
I have been posting over in the iris group, but the activity seems sparse this year. So thought I would branch out! Is everyone's garden going crazy like mine right now? We are sooo blessed with this cloudy weather. My sons are in Phoenix & you can't garden there, it's been 100+ for a couple weeks now. Keep up the battle with those slugs & you've got it made (my secret weapons are 13 Rhode Island Reds!)
Comment by Vicky Myers on May 17, 2012 at 6:50pm I don't know if I'm going to get peas or not. They are kinda blooming but I don't see many bees like I usually have. I found a few dead bee looking bugs back there. I'm sure my neighbors use pesticides, herbicides ect. I also didn't spend the $6 on innoculent (sp?) for the peas and beans, that maybe why they are so sparse. Plus the crazy weather, from freezing nights to 90 day time temps, now 70s days.
Comment by Glenda Truscott z8 on May 17, 2012 at 6:36pm I didn't plant peas this year Vicky, but I do have Blue Berries, Raspberries and Boysenberries in bloom also. I love berries.
