Here are some Cassias in bloom. The photo doesn't do it justice.

I absolutely love the Cassia tree/shrub. It blooms in October. Mine is growing in zone 9, but it will grow also in zones 10 and 11. I will post better photos when it blooms again later this month.

hey, does anyone know where I can get a catalpa tree, The leaves are huge and have nice flowers with bean pods that hang in the fall.

Just joined this group and I've got a million favorite shrubs. My newest one is Abelia mosanensis. It's known as the Hardy Abelia, and it is ! I've had it here in a Denver suburb, elev. 5450 ft., zone 5, and it has been doing great. It's deciduous, unlike the usual grandiflora varieties seen in zone 7 and up. Clusters of fragrant pink-tinged white flowers appear with the shiny leaves on the ends of the stems as the plant comes to life in the spring. The flowers are much more fragrant than grandifloras. It gets about 6ft high and just as wide as the canes arch up then down. I have it in full sun and heavy clay soil on a slope. It doesn't get much water in the summer and seems to do well on a water-restricted diet. As a bonus, it will flower on the new canes in late summer. It is said it has nice fall color but mine just gets a little orange, not drab but nothing special. It's a real winner here and I'm sure it will do well where it can get some winter cold/rest. I had to mail-order it . It's worth looking around for.

Just aquired a Ginko standard with a nice round top. I planted it in a square hole. Does anyone know how large it will get??

I just planted a green leafed, Eastern Red Bud tree today. I placed it near our pathway so we can enjoy it more in the springtime.
