Hy Marian,welcome here too!

So sorry to hear about your daughter, I cannot imagine what that is like !

I would love to have been a hippy too, but I was brought up the "Army" way. The first rebellious thing I did was to marry a man that my Dad did not approve of, and he barely came to the wedding. I had 5 children and now have 8 grandkids.....oh yea...I am still with the same man!! ;)

Now the kids are all doing their own thing and I lost my job last year, but I now have my garden which is my passion and I annoy the heart and soul out of anyone I meet telling them they should be growing their own! I may not know all there is to know, but gardening is an ongoing learning process and I am as happy as a pig in muck!!

Wow! I just found this. I am an old fashioned writer, and a writer. I don't and actually can't do the 1 word or sentence way of communicating. It is a sign of the times, but I will stick with the way I grew up and just grew. I am just an' old hippie, at 14 we really walked around the park, me and my Sister and Brother who was older, with flowers in our hair. It was a great time in my life, a great start to being me and being creative. The outdoors, music, camping, community, children, all the best things in life. Now gardening is my great passion and the whole, huge, unending world of horticulture. I am a conservationist to the soul. My kids are nicely grown, that was my biggest gift to mankind. My youngest Daughter, DeAnna died when she was 27. The most horrible loss and tragedy one could ever live through. I joined "Memorial Gardens" Now I have more to do and give. I am moving away from the desert S/W to Oregon. There are few garden groups here, I have started many things in my life, but now I am ready to follow and add my voice to the many. I hope I will be well received here in this forum. I look forward to hearing all that I can about all of you. I have to go eat...darn. I wanted to stay here, but I will return. Marian

Hi all, happily we're done with rain for awhile.  Today was a nice sunny day.  I do love Arizona and fell in love with it on my first layover back in winter 1998 (between home, gray and rainy Seattle and a work trip, beautiful but bitterly cold that week Santa Fe, New Mexico).  It was 75 F in Phoenix and I thought "why doesn't everyone live here?"  Of course, I visited again in August and found out why not EVERYone lives here, LOL.  It's a great place for sure--so many different climates in one state.  I love lots of other locations too, and whenever I see beautiful pics I always want to visit somewhere ELSE too.

I'm pouring over all sorts of seed catalogs right now--anyone else???

Take care,

Grant

Steve, those were some really fun (FUNNY) "trips," huh?  I think my hubby thought I was a little crazy out here laughing like a loon.  :)  Good Morning to you Catherine and right back atcha!  Grant, wow, that does seem like a lot of rain for AZ.  I love your state.. special places like the obvious but I truly loved time spent at Ramsey Canyon!

Beautiful photographs Audrey!  I love the contrast of snow and sky.  Very, very pretty.  Here in Scottsdale, Arizona USA we have pretty warm, sunny winters (it's out best, easiest gardening time), but the last two days have been rainy, Rainy, RAINY.  My 75 gallon (280 liter) rain barrel is full to the top! Glad to see the sun returning today.  Take care all.

Good Morning (6:46 A.M. here) Audrey.. What a lovely sunset!  Hope all is well up your way.  We've had two snowstorms here so far....snow is gone already and today it's 53º!  That is fairly unusual for mid-December.  Since we lost the power with the last snowfall I'm not so into snow this season.  We have a generator but it's just a pain.  Keep in touch when you're able.. always nice to have you stop in.  :)

Hy Audrey, Merry Christmas to you too and everyone else here :)

That's a lovely sunset !

Weather here in Ireland is so wet and somedays windy. We were suppose to get a storm last night, but it didn't happen. When weathermen say one thing, the opposite occurs !!!
