Since I live in the Midwest (think cold and snow), will Hens and Chicks survive indoors in a room with lots of windows?  I usually bring the pot into the garage over the winter and take it back…Continue

So, I received a bunch of different hens and chicks last fall. Couldn't plant them outside so keep them in the basement holding area, hubby takes care of them while down there and he just brought them up for spring. Well most of them flowered.

I'm going to take a brush to them to seed if they set seed, but it's so sad that they didn't make them outside to the bed they are to be in.

I know this isnt' my bed but I wanted to make a indoor succulent sea scape.. So I did a 15 aqu.gal .. lol.. Play sand and Lava Rock and different succulents that wont' survive cold temps out side.. More to add but here it is right now. Plants are in pots and not planted so NO rock bed, just Lava rock to hide them.. The last pic is what it looks like now. more shells added in. will change as I add in more plants but not to many! Small tank..

when I move this back 2 feet more to the fence line, most of those rocks along the back, are coming out.. I will leave only a few and I hope it wil look Ok.. I hope I can BEND good to do so!! LOL.. Also I have to move that cluster of hens and chicks as I have another agave I need to place their. well darn.... Cats have been in it some.. Lots of rocks later wil help keep them out I hope..

I added in more color yesterday, as in mostly just purslane in pink and yellow as that is the only colors they had.. with all the greeness of the Hens & chicks I needed color and that was a great discount plants to get!! Looks nice.. NOT done still! but working on it earily mornings.

Looking down into it.. I removed the broke pot as it did not look right up against the rocks.. O well.. I should have left it alone!!  I might place it else where later..

Looking at it sitting down.. I need to  move the silvia hot lips later on when it gets cold OR keep it for more shade next year, not sure yet.. lol..

Almost their but not quite yet.. More pics as I fine tune it some more..

It's looking great!! Hubby's been working 6 days a week so I haven't been in my yard. Unfortunately, I need him to babysit me while I'm out there.

I got it 3/4 done today!! Clouds came in for a while so I got after it. I then started the plantings.. Some need to be moved, like the cascade of hens/chicks, but easy as they are not rooted just yet. I am going to move them further back some.. More rocks to place in here and their, but I found bury them after the planting and they look/work out better. Lose ones do not stay, I  will finish most of it early tomorrow morning..

Rocks placed inside but many moved as I planted.. Out line stays but moving more towards the fence are later once I get it all cleaned out.. lol..

Started planting. Most flowered succulents, rose moss, Purslane are on the right side. StoneCrops are here and their. Middle rock holds the Agave.. I have it mounted some to help elevate it off the rest of the plants..

I am moving this farther back so it will look more coming at U instead of like this. I might even change out the pot.. This area is for the Hens/chicks area mostly.. So that stone crop top left is coming out..

More later as I get more in I have many more not planted yet that I want in for winter. Fine tune it here and their and I HOPE I have a rock succulent/other bed soon!!
