Permalink Reply by Lynn Sanfilippo on April 2, 2011 at 3:38pm Confrey is one of my favorite herbs! It needs little care and keeps coming back. You can make a terrific salve with the leaves and roots for sprains and strains. all you need to do is put either cocoa butter or even a vasoline type product in a potpourri crock pot..( those little electric crocks)....once your base is liquified, add your herbs and let them steep for a good 20 minute. Strain thru a coffee filter and place in a glass jar ( plastic will melt)..voila Comfrey Salve.
I have used it for years with much success! It will take the swelling out of a sprain and also the black and blue. It helps with the pain of bruising. I have read that the comfrey tincture will reduce wrinkles!! Give it a try! :)

Permalink Reply by Deb Phillips on April 7, 2011 at 10:30pm Comfrey is for topical use only and is fabulous for any abrasions. We use it in a tea we make for a bath for a woman after she has a baby.
I've only had my comfrey plant for 5 years but it has bloomed beautifully this year.
Permalink Reply by Cindy Dumont on April 9, 2011 at 11:56pm I never heard of Comfrey herb. I will have to search for it come planting time. Do you know if it is hardy in RI?
