Thanks Vicky, I will be harvesting some mint here shortly then, and hanging it to dry. :)

Thanks Darlene.  I have been a licensed midwife for 28 years so am a practicing herbalist also.  I'm just thought it would be fun and worthwhile to get my certificate.  But it is always good to put two perspectives together.  Always comes up with a better answer.

Before they flower and early morning. Try to keep them from flowering if you can keep up.

when is the best time to harvest herbs?   By time I mean time of day, and at what point in the growth cycle

Hi Deb ... I am available for additional info if you like as I am a practicing herbalist.

I am currently taking a course to get my national herbalist certificate.  I have been studying about 20 hours a week on it.  Will take 3 years total to finish but is very exciting.  Making all sorts of tinctures and oils.

I just took a walk around the yard.  Good to get out in the sun.  My thyme is doing great.  So is the parsley, comfrey, oregano, lemon balm, fennel, etc etc.  I love spring.  Watching all the little babies come back is so much fun.

Wow glad to here your pineapple sage over wintered mine never do. Are you sure it isn't pineapple mint, mine is going crazy out there. It usually dies back and comes back but the last ones I put in were really hardy and spread like mint does. I may need to rethink it, dig it up and pot it before it takes over my creeping thyme, the herb garden and the neighbor's lawn.

I am getting ready to start my herbs for the season ... the two which wintered very well are my rosemary and my pineapple sage ... looking forward to sharing ideas with this group.

Finished Planting New Bed Today

"Reminds me of an old saying... "Gardeners are the most optimistic people on the planet - who else at age 90 would plant a small tree seedling and worry about what would have to be transplanted once the tree begins to shade it" :)"
