Permalink Reply by Debra Hughes on December 27, 2009 at 5:57pm Debra- It was so nice to see the picture of your greenhouse. It reminds me so much of an attached greenhouse my husband and I built in 1985. We started our seedlings for the vegetable garden, in it, but it was so much more than that! It really heated the lower portion of our house on sunny days - even mid-Winter! (which is no small feat for Western MA) My son played in it as a baby on days when the weather was too cold to be outside, and our cats stretched out on the benches daily. Good memories.

Permalink Reply by Elaine Johnon on August 25, 2010 at 10:08am My husband and dad built me one many years ago. It is 8x8, has a flag stone floor, has corrigated plastic roof/walls (bought from Charlies Greenhouse catalog) I have a propane gas heater in it. Windows in north and southern ends for airflow. I have successfully started approx 2000 plants/year in it. I have 3 rows of shelves in it, which is not ideal as I have to rotate my plants freq. But I LOVE it!! I am a seed nut,and love my flowers!! I know I have pics somewhere and will post when I can. Good luck!! enjoy!!

We built ours from simple 2x4's with corrugated poly carb on the outside & plywood, it's covered with 1 year poly which adds another 10 degrees of heat at night. Heated by a used wood stove out back with back up elect. heaters. Made on greentreat 4x4's on a smooth rock bed. Simple & cheap! Shelves inside are 24" vinyl fencing stapled to 2x2's. Want more information, please email me :-)
