If you have been moving Daylilies and mudding them in and then watering them afterwards you should be just fine. When I say water afterwards I mean at least once a week . If your rot system is small more often. I have actually just stuck leaves and stems in the ground and was rewarded with a plant, but that was just fooling around. Alot of the hostas can grow with pretty wet feet.

Thanks Randy!  I certainly don't have that many to dig.  I have been dividing daylilies lately.  They are coming out my ears.  I'd like to move some hostas between them.

Kris, I was going to answer your question but was side tracked. You can divide but mud your plants good and don't forget top water afterwards too. I moved a little over 100 hostas when I moved here after I sold my old place in July. Those plants were never planted 'till Oct. of that year. I don't know if I had any loses. I have bought plants that were dug and was not sold enough roots for them to survive but a little care and you should be jjuust fine. Happy digging.

I really don't think so, Glenda. Some of mine are starting to bloom. Francis Williams, T-Rex and some others. I really love the ones that usually bloom in Aug. here as they are mostly fragrant. What a joy it is to smell them in the evening!

Both are nice gardens Randy, thanks for the pics.  Could there be a bad hosta garden?

Can I divide my hostas now or is it too late?  My garden looks like the one below (over crowded!) that Randy posted.

Kristin, I don't have any gardening friends here. And those that want plants don't have anything to share they just want to start their own gardens. Which I do give them plants when I am able to split them. Just don't get anything in return :)

Wonderful pictures of your Minis Glenda. I do like the larger hostas. This is a picture of an over crowded hosta garden. Then a picture of my best friends Hosta garden.
