It is good to find out a plants real name, so many have the same common names. The common names change depending on what country you live in too. So when you like something that has been posted, its still hard to find.

Thanks for the name of the Mistletoe Cactus.. I never knew the real name and even sent some to Elizabeth Fowler. I just called it drooping pencil.

The orchid is not flowering yet, I am in the coldest time, things are just holding and waiting. My plants don,t die from cold, but they are not growing very fast either for about a month in winter.

Love the pinecone cactus, have not seen one before. Does not look like it has spikes. I will keep my eyes open for one of these. Running out of room, I am sure there is something I,ve doubled up on, that could go.

Hopefully those orchid blooms have opened for you by now, Keryn, LOL.  If so, we'd love some pics!

Just for fun here's a pick of a flower on my dwarf plumeria, 'Divine' this week.  Neat, low-growing, heavily branching pretty plants.  Sadly they have very little fragrance, but they're still fun to grow and enjoy.

Here are some fun potted "pinecone cacti", Tephrocactus articulatus inermis.  I've planted these all over the place.

And finally, a Rhipsalis baccifera that I grew from seed several years ago.  Sometimes called "mistletoe cactus" because it DOES look like mistletoe, and makes white sticky berries like mistletoe, and often grows in trees like mistletoe, although it's not really related and is NOT a parasite (which mistletoe is).  Fun plant for sure.

Happy gardening all!

I have put it outside again and the spikes have grown even longer, but still no flowers open, they will just stay like that now until spring and some warm sun. My other orchids are the same growing spikes but not opening.

Too bad about the orchid timing, Keryn, but we'll definitely want to see lots of pics when it's in bloom, even if it misses your local orchid show.  Its' definitely full of promise!

Thanks for the interior pic too, such a nice, cozy looking space.  So fun.

Happy house planting all,

Grant

Mo, I brought the pot like that, its a half pot and usually sits up against a tree truck out side. My house is not newly decorated its been like that for years. But I still like the cottage or old style, so it suits me and suits the style and age of the house.

Keryn I have 3 of those wooden tables. Trying to get the old metal table out of here so I can bring one in. I had one in the kitchen, one in the dinning room and the other at one time in the craft room at the old house. That is a nice area you've done, just my 2 cents worth but I prefer red bricks painted white. I think the plants would show up even better. But that is just me, some things bug me like that.

My huge Swiss cheese plant is still at Marsha's house since she has way more room than I do. I so need to finish getting junk out of here and set up the bedrooms. My whole house needs a revamping. I bought a blue orchid pot a while back for only $1.99 and it is a big one, just need to figure out how to get the plant out of the pot it is crammed into now. It was given to Wilma before she died. It was one that they made blue before, don't know if I can ever get it to bloom again. I dragged a couple of boxes in from the trailer that have all my organic fertilizers in them, now I just have to learn and start using them.

Keryn, what a great display area. So clever and beautiful too! I am sad for you not going to show your orchid, but we all want to see it when it opens. It looks very interesting, what kind is it and how did you cut the pot in half?
