Hello Thea,  I just know that raspberrys hate soggy or chalky soil, so I'm using a good compost with added perlite (for help with drainage).  They like a fair amount of sunshine too, so I'm keeping my finger, legs & eyes (joking) crossed.  I bought 6 bare root canes, one of them failed but the others have produced growth although I'm not sure there's enough for flowers & then fruit.  We'll have to wait & see.

Hello again, it seems an age since I was last here, which it probably is.  The weather here isn't much better than it was last year, so I decided not to do potatoes this year, last year they all were affected by blight.  Instead I'm growing different sorts of beans...runners, dwarf, and french.  So far they are doing well and will crop in a few weeks if we get some more sunshine.  I'm also growing autumn raspberries in pots & raised beds, an experiment I know, but worth a try.

My daughter, her partner & their daughter, my grandaughter have moved from London to be nearer to me, and to help me with things I can't do anymore.

Congratulations on your new grand daughter - her name is very beautiful - Freedom.

Magnificent Mountain Laurels

"Thanks Matthew. I love them, too. They are VERY slow growing. I planted the ones we have as tiny little plants (maybe 1 foot tall) about 10 years ago and they are finally nice-sized and are filled with blooms in the spring. It was definitely worth…"
