Comment by Yvonne Martin zone 9a se texas on May 24, 2012 at 4:05pm I love japanese maples especially the low burgandy spreading ones. I live in south east texas with high temps is there a J.maple for my area?
Comment by steve goodman on April 17, 2012 at 8:40pm a frien told me it is hard to plant from the seeds on the tree. Nature will drop and plant them on its own and you cannot force it
Comment by steve goodman on April 14, 2012 at 6:36am i have taken seeds off the tree and planted them last aug but do not see anything as of yet
Lyn, Id love to try the seeds. Keep us posted as to how yours sprout. (By the way, I love where I live, the climate for the JM's is perfect, but would love to visit Austrailia!)

Thanks Steve, there are about 30 seeds in the packet, so I intend to throw the whole lot in and see how they go!
Comment by steve goodman on April 12, 2012 at 7:58am good luck with the seeds Lyn

Well Connie, she certainly deserves the title of Queen. You are very lucky to be able to grow these in your area as you have the cooler climate there. We are classed as temperate here in Sydney and don't always get a good response with our cool climate plants. However at present I have managed to keep three JM's alive, plus today I received seeds from an internet site for Red Japanese Maples so I will see how I fare with those.
This is a Crimson Queen and it's like a pet. We call it "Queen". Hubby bought this for me for Easter 5 yrs ago. We moved from the SC coast last year to the mountains of NC and Queen LOVES the cooler weather. (She's showing off!)
