Hi Claudia, No, I didn't know Pauline. My husband really doesn't know anyone in his dad's family so you never know. :) I think his dad was born in KS somewhere. How old was she? I think it warmed up above freezing today and is supposed to be even better tomorrow. Yippee!! I'm ready for this stuff to melt.

The snow IS gorgeous . . . as long as I am INside :-). Hey Annie, did you know a Pauline Albright? She lived in Wichita . . . YEARS ago! Just curious. She was a dear, dear friend of mine. By the way, I love the photo of your snow-covered walkway!

Thanks, Susan! My book is titled Ralphina, the Roly-Poly. It is targeted for Pre-K through age 8. I have a Masters Degree in Education, so Ralphina is a fun, entertaining story while teaching little ones about roly-polies. I loved to play with these tiny creatures when I was a little girl . . . thus, my inspiration for this story. As an artist, a photographer, and a gardener, I used photos from my own gardens to create many of the illustrations. Aw nuts! I wish I could attend this festival on the 19th, but I have a conflict. I will present at the Overland Park Arboretum that day at 11:45 . . . I have written and illustrated and children's book and will be one of the 'local authors' to participate in the activities for the children that day.

Buck, years ago I attended a gardening workshop at JCCC presented by a Japanese gardener and we got to see the huge stones placed with a crane. It was quite an experience. Thanks for the note about the festival. If you have time, check out my blog on a recent garden tour. It wasn't a Japanese Garden. But, I think you will like the mermaid in the garden! We had a wonderful garden club meeting Tuesday night in Lenexa, Kansas. Anne, the homeowner, is very creative. A vibrantly elemental garden has photos and tells a little bit about the gardener and garden. You gotta see her spray painted alliums! It's an idea I wanted to share with everyone and I included photos of a couple of them.

I have some precisely like the ones in your photo! Those, plus the bright pink ones. They are indeed among my favorites! Guests and neighbors always comment on them.
