New to the group. Living in Glasgow KY. I'm into landscaping and small scale vegetable gardening. I've grown a vegy garden for years...  just don't want to spend my life in the garden. Last year I grew Butternut squash for the first time with great success. This I plan on growing Butterbush which is a bush butternut, hopefully it will not be much of a compromise. Cardoons are also something I'm going to try this year. I planted them last year but the plant seems to be serviving the winter fairly well. It's supposed to get down to 11 degrees tonight so I guess I'll put a box over it.

Just wanted to introduce myself.  I'm new to Garden Share and well, gardening. I  started tackling my landscaping two years ago when I ran out of house projects and finally figured out why my mom enjoys it so much.  I'm an architect in Lexington and have a growing addiction to perennials, humming birds and butterflies.  Nice to meet other KY gardeners!

Check the roots on the Zuccini they sometimes have this problem from a larva boring in the roots effecting the plants ability to take up moisture. If it is kill them so they do not spread.

Is there anyone that is having problems with their zucchini's plants dying after they are mature?? Yellowing, wilting and fruit dying off!!

I started these from seed in February so they a a little behind the ones purchased as plants in the spring. But they are 4' tall and setting fruit. They are indetermenent plants that I train to towers to make more room for other plants in my garden.

I had some blight problems last year so I am growing some resistant types this year. Rutgers, beef steak, and super sweet, for salads, sandwiches, and eating in the garden.

Howard, what kind of tomatoes are you growing? I planted some German Johnson and Lemon Boy.

Hi, all! New member from Eastern KY (Morehead). Just moved here, but gardened with my Dad in Pennsylvania, and with my husband in Texas. Looking forward to things actually *growing* (in Texas, they usually died).
