I"m looking for help!! One of my lavender plants that has been in location for 2 years now was doing great doubling in size putting off lots of flower stalks, I noticed is what looking like dying off little by little on one side? What's happening I read somewhere that was normal, but I'm not sure if that's so??

I have lavender growing in a washing machine bowl around my peachtree, they do well both of them, I also found ants in a pot while being a pain at times it keeps your soil friable and it never develops mould, something in the ants saliva stops mould! I never tried growing lavender from seed, always a cutting making sure a little woody bit is in the cutting! hope it helps, I want to try to get good smelling different kinds of lavender growing so I am off to a lavender farm very soon!

I have started lavender from seed and it did fine until I planted it in the flower bed. And I have bought plants and planted them in the flower bed and they have died. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions?

Wonder what happened to my whole packet of lavender seeds I planted over a year ago in a sandy spot...haven't seen a sign of them growing at all...

My first lavender I planted at a newly constructed home in MI that left alot of sand by the front porch corner. Lavender grew SO BIG there, loved that spot. Other places I've lived it didnt do as well. Had a sandy spot where I live now in TN and planted seed last year!...Haven't seen any come up at all! I know what to look for with that grayish foilage. Oh my, am sad I don't have any here, will have to get a plant maybe reduced now in August. My son makes lavender lemonade and also used it in a chicken dish with blueberries!
I like the fragrance and so do my cats! LOL

OH, I also find if I put lavender near plants that my husbands girlfriends "horticultural tastetesters" (aka DEER) it keeps them from eating some plants like my roses. Go figure. So, now, I plant lavender next to my roses. :)

DRAINAGE DRAINAGE DRAINAGE = key to healthy happy lavender. There are different varieties which respond to different areas; some do better with humidity, some get fungus infections. I like Picote, it does well here, some of the old english lavenders don't like it? I have munstead also, my suggestion to anyone is try both in similar spots, if you have clay, dig it out and add sand/peastone/gypsum. this what i did @ my old house which I could have made pottery out of that soil. *sigh* I LOVE my sandy "beach soil"

I will try to upload pics of my lavender later this week, I have a lot of it, which started as only a few plants that spread spread spread, they are in full bloom right now and the bumbles are loving them!
