I just talked to my son and he said there was enough snow at his place to cover the grassy areas in the lawns in Dixon Il.. We had a couple of brief snow showers but they would go right back to rain. The leaves are almost all off the trees and it is starting to look more lie winter. Here is a little of the fall color that we've had in the past week.Bitter Sweet growing wildOrnamental Pear in my gardenFlint Creek in Stars Cave Burlington Ia. City Park

I haven't heard of it before? Is it a herbicide or insecticide? I'm guessing insecticide. Should smell good!

Randy, saw your posting on the sidebar.... I didn't know this group was on here! How come you didn't telllll me??!  :)

You know, the gardens will take care of themselves and most of your plants will tuck themselves in; fun fall activities pass so quickly that it's a shame to wast them, especially when spent with loved ones.  The gardens will still be there for you come spring, but enjoy the day today.   LOVE your pelicans and eagle (along with the others, of course!!)

I have been trying to get my gardens ready for winter but have ended up doing fun fall activities instead. The weather has been so nice the last few weeks, that I've been watching the fall color change since the end of September. I live just a few miles from the Mississippi River and the fall bird migration is just getting started. Today I watched American White Pelicans soaring over the River. I have even seen a few American Bald Eagles that will migrate in larger numbers to here in Dec. Enjoyed the few late blooming flowers as well.American White PelicanPink CosmosCarefree Delight Shrub RoseMonarch on a CosmosFairy Rose Minature Shrub Rose

Thanks, Randy, but it has been raining quite a bit and one by one are going down.  I wonder if there is some kind of Daisy wilt or fungus?  It just kills me to see them die.

Deb, sounds like a water issue. Mine will wilt during the heat of the day and then perk up at night. I don't have the Beckys but older varieties. I have heavy soil and lose quite a few during the winter and try to divide every spring. They do a lot better in a gravel bed. The last couple have been so wet I've had more problems then when we were in a drought!

Wish I could help you Deb, but I honestly have no clue whats been going on with my garden so far this year. So I can't help others.
