It's great to see so many people from Missouri here. I live in Springfield Mo. and I do like to get out in the yard during the good months of the year. I've noticed the Hyacinths and some daffodils are already starting to peek through with their green tops. Since the Pa. Groundhog predicted 6 more weeks of winter, I really hope they don't get bit by frost or worse. If anyone wants daffodil bulbs come see me!

Hello ! I've lived in Missouri most of my life, but now I'm settled (for good I hope) near Chilhowee. I work as a horticulturist and have a large high tunnel in my front yard! My favorite thing to do is to propagate new plants. I usually have my pruners with me where ever I go. Just can't help it!

Southwest Missouri is a great place for lasagna gardening.  We also have (in my opinion) the prettiest weeds in the US - don't be afraid to let them take over, you'll soon be finding them for sale in the nurseries.

Hello to all! I to am new to gardening in Missouri. I moved here last June and have spent the last year clearing the property of 20 years or more of brush and vines. It has been a LOT of hard work. Now I am starting on planting(at least the planning part). I live in Douglas county(Ava) and boy are there a lot of rocks, or more accurately there is a little dirt. Luckily I like rocks. We did not have any back in NC where I came from, and in truth I actually bought rocks to add to flower beds. Was I crazy or what? I have enjoyed seeing a few bulbs come up and I already see the Peonies peeking through. Anyone close to me that wants to share plants? I don't have much here. I have not seen any perennials at all, so I think I am starting from scratch. Wishing everyone happy planting!

Hello everyone! I have been browsing this site all day and am so very thankful to have found it. We bought a small house on 80 acres last year and I am so anxious to get started on the yard. My problem being i am a beginner and feel if I am having this much trouble just figuring out the layout of my new canvas I am never going to get started. Any ideas on websites or books to help design a yard full of shrubs, flowers, fruits and vegetables...an escape from reality! I am looking forward to sharing my failures and successes with you all and hope I will be able to learn something from you along the way!

Hi all! Just found this site, and am thoroughly enjoying it so far! I'm from Marshfield, MO and currently living/attending college at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO.

I garden during the summer months and any other time i get a chance. I've always loved plants and anything green, organic, and/or growing. :) I even have plants in my room here at college to brighten up my room.

Looking forward to sharing and seeing lovely garden pics and tips, as well as getting to know everyone!

Hi! Just joined this group. I have a small farm just west of LaGrange,Mo. I grew up on the banks of the mighty mississippi river. Years ago I had a garden about 10 feet away from the river. Best garden I ever had. Now living 4 miles from the river, my garden soil is a lot different. Hope to learn a lot on this site.

Hi Carol, Jeanne, and Melvina. Welcome to Missouri. I live near Sedalia. I like herb and flower gardening. You can also look at Bright Hope Farm on facebook to see more pics.

Iam new to this page don't know much about gardening. Moved here from Oklahoma where the soil is red mud. I noticed people here in Missouri have beautiful landscaping and flowers. I hope to learn how to make a nice landscape with annuals and perennials.
