It's a Pereskia, an early form of cactus. Gets to be a large shrub or tree where it's from-it'll get big in a pot, too. It will probably go dormant and lose most or all of it's leaves. Keep it dry then, and resume watering when it puts out new leaves. In growth it likes sun, fertilizer and water. Its a fast grower.
