Permalink Reply by Scott on January 27, 2012 at 10:25pm Its been a while since anyone posted anything. Are you all snowbound? Thought this might get someone out and about - even if its twigs and bark........ post a pic of something you came across recently or a long time ago. Is always fun to analyze & guess a plant's ID.

Fallopia japonica 'Variegata' aka knotweed. The plain green version can be quite invasive.
Permalink Reply by Robin (N.IL zone 5) on January 28, 2012 at 1:32pm The garden is sleeping. So not much to ask about. Though I will pop over to houseplants (very active since the gardens are sleeping) and let them know they can post here for identification since most house plants come with a generic tag that says (tropicals) :)

Not snow bound at all. Quite beautiful here, gardening and cleaning up stuff. Lots in bloom too. Quite an unusual and mild winter. Have only scooted my citrus trees into the garage once this year...29 degrees and wouldn't even normally do that since it lasts for only a few hours, but 3-4 days in a row so did it. But other then that brief spell...nice, nice, nice. Quince, crocus, camellias, apricot and other nice blooms going on.
