I have a customer in West Chester, PA, that has a Canby Pachistima that is doing well in an acid well-drained soil and part-shaded spot next to her little waterfall and pond. Unfortunately, this native plant of the Appalachian Region is particular of growing conditions, shade, a good quality well-drained soil, and shelter from winds. I tried to grow one, but too much sunshine came by and it died out. So it is chancy to grow one, but I think it is worth a try. I think it likes both acid or alkaline soil.
