Dang Paul, wish you were in No. Nevada so I could enjoy some of those cantalopes! Were they "hearts of gold"? They smell so great and are the sweetest ever! Fallon, NV is known for growing that type of cantalope but I didn't see any in the stores this year. Maybe it was more profitable to send them out of state......the ones I did buy just did not have any taste. :-(

When we moved to Nevada last year in August (born and raised in California) not being able to grow anything was what I heard too. I guess I inherited my mother's green thumb after all because I have roses that went bananas all summer and into Fall plus sunflowers almost as tall as I am. I'm 5'10 3/4"!!! I had 4 huge sunflowers that I named after my four grandchildren, Sera, Justice, Ashley and Luke, all of which are growing like weeds!!!
I also have a real green rose that my husband purchased for me from Publisher's Clearing House. It looks like a real rose, not the one that has petals like fingers!

I guess both would be good reasons! ;)

I wonder why there aren't more Nevadans on this site?

We're Carson City and most gardening books say we're zone 6.
Don't know what zone this site says we should be. Map doesn't show Nevada at all!

Paul thank you but What is BT? I have been looking for a puff bottle what and or where would be a good place find one?
I have been using Sevn Dust on the garden which seems to have reduced the earwigs.

Hey Paul, I just looked in my gardener's book and Las Vegas is in Zones 9 or 10. Looks like that adds one more zone to your list!!! Tee-hee, good luck! Thank goodness we only have Zone 7 here in Reno.
