Hi All, I was born in Southern New Jersey, but I have lived in many states.  Alas, leaving many gardens behind with sadness.  I just purchased a home in Haddon Heights, NJ in Nov. of 2010.  There are many mature planting that give me a great start, but I am ready to till a spot for some vegetables and herbs, as well as fill in the blank side yard.  Gardening makes me feel as though God is all around me because I am surrounded my his creations and through his grace my garden grows.

Hi,
I just joined this site. I am from South Jersey. Where I live the soil is clay and very hard. Through trial and error over the past 15 years, I'm pretty proud of my little garden. At first, I planted mainly annuals. Now, I have mainly perennials (Rose of Sharons, Lily of the Valleys, Burning Bush, hostas, mini rose bushes, and a clematis, etc.). I still plant some annuals just to add more color.

Hi, we were neighbors...I was originally from Passaic County but now live in Cumberland County for 1yr. And its sandy soil here also, good for growing tomatoes...even though we don't like them. I just put in a veg. garden with spinach, lettuce, tomato, cuc, parsley, green pepper and eggplant. Looking for 1 yellow squash to complete the garden.

I am originally from Bergen County, but have been down here in Ocean County for over 22 years now. Trying to grow anything in this soil (mostly sand no matter how much compost I add) has been a challenge all these years.
