Dear Gardening Friends,
Click on the link above to see what I have witnessed. The first time I noticed these creatures, two of the hermorphadites were hanging in my garage in a hammock of slime as is their way of procreation. Tonight I was out with my dog Scout and found them eating zuchchini leaves and fruits. They also love lamb's ears. They are very robust - usually reaching 4 inches, but sometimes up to 6 inches and they live 3 years! The only good thing about them is that they eat little slugs and some other critters.
Has anyone found a good way of humanely getting rid of leopard slugs? I want to avoid poison. My toads are to small to eat them. I am thinking of selling them as aquarium pets or a Southern delicacy through Whole Foods or perhaps as a deep fried dish at the State Fair. I know the last 2 ideas end in death, but no poison...
TC and don't slip on the slime trail!

Lay out an old piece of wood in the place they are munching what you don't want them to eat. They will take cover under the wood in the day. You can place the wood in a plastic bag and empty the bag and all of the slugs in a cool wooded area. You may need to repeat.
I actually find the slugs beautiful and interesting, so killing them would be like killing a song bird to me.
