on the roses I would cut them way back so they can concentrate on root development instead of sending resourses to trying to keep leaves alive.

Good morning and happy first day of Summer!! I've been unable to get to my Gardeners Index website very much lately. Too busy at work, in the garden, and with our massive landscape project we're doing in the back. I'll post pictures some day soon, I promise. In the mean time, we had to dig up our 7 rose bushes and re-plant them 48 hours later. One of the 7 is doing fine, but the others look simply awful. I cannot tell if I should prune them down to the base, or just wait and see what the next couple of weeks does for them. We're watering them in the evening but leaves are dying, any rose blooms or buds are bent over in a sad display of hopelessness! Any suggestions?!

Kathy, The Autumn Clematis at Lowe's said part shade but when I went to a regular garden center, their's said full sun. Even though it costs twice as much I purchased the garden center one. Thanks for your help.

Why do perennial beds get so weedy?! I worked this evening until I could no longer stand it and headed for a cool shower! Much better now! I did notice I have 4 "Red Hot Pokers" coming up from the seeds I started 2 years ago! I always get excited when something started from seed actually works!

I have autum clamatis both in shade and full sun. I get more flowers in the sun, but it does well in shade too. I love the picture of the roses on the trelis!!!

Good Morning,
I have an old tree trunk in full sun where I'd like to grow a vine that would bloom most of the summer. Anyone have any good ideas? I really wanted a Sweet Autumn Clematis but it looks like they need part sun.

Hi Kittie..... The good news is......things look good from all the rain. But enough already!!! Should clear up by tomorrow PM. We've got to get together to see each others gardens before the heat and drought rears its ugly head.

Is it ever going to stop raining? My son visited from Seattle and felt like he never left home! I know, along about July we'll be praying for rain! =) I have pumpkin, zucchini & sunflower seeds to get in the ground yet.

I don't know how close you are to Berlin and the Sugarcreek area but I would think you could find it in Amish Country. Also in Charm there is a wonderful hardware called Kleim...awesome place but I don't know if they would have a trellis.
