Comment by Ruth Thacker on July 31, 2011 at 8:08am All of a sudden I have these VERY large black and red ant/wasp (without wings) looking bug running about. I have been told they are called cow ants and to beware for they pack a mean bite. Having been here 5 years now theis is the first time I have seen these critters and Id like to have them go back where ever they came from as quickly as possible. Help please!

Comment by Ruth Thacker on July 24, 2011 at 8:46pm Woofta, what craziness! Its as dry as a popcorn fart and no relief in sight. We did actually get rain today, just enough to make dimples in the dust :)
So far with some help from covered soaker hoses and evening watering the plants are hanging in there. The only draw back I have discovered living in OK is the armidillos are so very happy when I water, gives them a nice cool place to DIG for critters! Augh! They are making a mess of my beds. (thanks for letting me vent I do feel much better now) :)
Comment by Jann Davenport Z 7B on July 20, 2011 at 4:57pm Nancy, thank goodness my heucharas are shaded by the almost dead gladiolas. LOL I've just left them there, hoping for something hopeful to show.
Years ago I used that sun shade material to shade a section of my garden and had completely forgotten about it. Today the wind has whipped the beach umbrella to where half is folded over the other half. Guess I'll try to fix it when it cools a bit outside.
Nancy, I hope you're staying cool also!
