Just noticed some of my climbing sugar pod and Green Arrow peas are germinating. Always an exciting time of year in the garden. Now if I can keep the wildlife out!

I hope the Oregon group get up and going soon.  It's just about time to plant again.  I am going to get the peas in tomorrow.

I took a look at Oregon's hardiness zone map this evening and couldn't help but feel that it was completely appropriate, seeing as it is definitely tie-dyed.

Happy Sunday everyone! Hope the weather is beautiful! Remember to be thankful for the rain when it comes as there are states in this country who have battled drought all summer long. Be thankful for the cleansing drops that wash away the dust and feed our wells. Rain is a gift, let us not take it for granted!

Thank's Garden Gal! We just moved to Oakland (Rice Valley) about 20 miles north on the I-5 from Roseburg. I grew up in Portland so I watched my mom garden in that amazing soil! Spoiled woman! I am loving it up here. I love the pros and cons of things growing. :) A little bit of wild in the garden is always a good thing, but too much can be suffocating! :) Have a wonderful rest of your week.

Welcome to OR Jaymee! Hard to offer much in the way of advice until we know which general area you are in OR (we seem to have all the climate zones here LOL). I moved here 8 years ago from a 16 year stint in Las Vegas (z10 yikes!) - prior to Vegas was almost 20 years in z8 in Nor Cal... Now we are in the foothills of the Cascades on the western side... Best thing about Oregon for a gardener is THINGS GROW! Worst thing is THINGS GROW!! LOL In any case - Welcome fellow Oregonian :)

Good evening! I just moved back to Oregon about 2 months ago and am really excited. I picked up gardening in Arizona, so I am facing quite a culture shock. Any advice, resource, planting/transplanting/harvesting time-tables would be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to hearing from you!

Alana, Thanks I was just curious to see if anyone had done it. I have been freezing whole tomatoes for years and do use then all winter, however I do not thaw them, I just drop them whole into stew/soup and they thaw there.

It is very easy to freeze tomatoes whole Diane.  I just take them out of the freezer and put the bag into some hot water to defrost them to use into soups or whatever later.  It saves a lot of time and energy when you have made all the soups, salsa and sauce you can eat!
