Good morning, Richard! You are way up there, aren't you? Me thinks you may be the first from your area on our boards. I'm Tracey from Lancaster County - nice to meet you.
I think I am a little farther even than Tracey. I am in Chester County which is east of her county. Welcome!
Hi Richard,
I'm from Sharon about 60 miles south of Erie. My husband and I go to Presque Isle every summer for a couple of days and we've made a number of trips to the wineries in your area. Other than the gardens at the Zoo, are there any other public gardens near Erie?
Hi All,
I'm Jill Moritz from Bradford - just about 90 miles east of Erie. We have a cooler climate than you do (zone 4, mostly).
It's nice to hear that there are others in our general part of the state on this site.
Because we live in a small town, there are very few good nurseries around. I have considered coming to Erie in search of native plants. Can any of you recommend a good source for this in the far western part of the state?
I'm in North Coventry, Chester County. Just joined today!
You should give RICHARD-SALAZAR (Z-5b,6a)Erie-PA a call...check out his page. Might be worth the trip for you to see what all he has.

Jessica you live down near where Tracey Yasi lives. Check out her page. She knows just where everything is and what is good to grow in your area.

I used to live 25 miles west of Lake Michigan from Chicago, but now I am in the west suburbs of Philadelphia in zone 6b by the 1990 USDA map or zone 7a according to the new map by the Arbor Day Foundation adjustingfor global warming. I have long heard that there are a number of nurseries growing evergreens up near Eirie because yews, junipers, and other evergreens grow fairly fast up there.
