Has anyone successfully treated their small landscape hemlocks? Our 6-ft tree has the telltale white spots this spring--sigh. I've never used insecticidal soap and I'd appreciate any tips!

Lowes sells a granular product one of my friends swears by. You put it on the ground prior to a rain OR water it in. We are trying it this year. With More than a dozen hemlocks, several of them very big and old, we hope this will do it. We had a landscape company spraying for a couple of years.... but when the price went to nearly $4000 we had to quit. The granular product will cost us several hundred dollars to do it thoroughly. I would think the time do it is NOW (your weather is about the same as mine although I'm in the Appalachian Mountains in the NE corner of Tennessee.
On a whole, with trees, there is a point at which you cannot spray it yourself. Yours is small. Check with your farm supply store for products as well at Lowes.
