Very nice to be able to use those seeds.

Well, I think I said that I am getting my starts from last year's purchased plants. This last March I found seed pods on the old plants and brought them into our screened porch and scattered them in a planter that was used for petunias. It took a while for them to germinate in their little home fashioned greenhouse. See the wire hoops that held the plastic cover. After transplanting some of them I discovered that petunias have also germinated. By starting them exposed to the weather, they are better conditioned for going into the garden.
The herb pots with pansies are outside my kitchen door. There are four pots of herbs in each large planter and you can see a little of the pot in one photo. The urn, below, has a rosemary tree and foxglove planted at the base. These are second year plants that we purchased in bloom last year. Later in early summer we will probably replace the rosemary with angel wing begonias.

Comment by Nancy E Jenkins on April 4, 2012 at 5:24pm Tulips/daffs poking through ground. I am hoping that the snow warning is for closer to foothills in Alberta and stays away from my area.
Comment by Robin (N.IL zone 5) on April 4, 2012 at 4:50pm So, here in Northern Il. we are now under a freeze warning. I hope the plants that are sprouting will do well between now and the 6th, since I don't have enough of anything to cover any plants.

Comment by Robin (N.IL zone 5) on March 13, 2012 at 9:45am I hope so, it has such a pretty flower on it. I've only been tinkering in the garden for 11 yrs so there is soooo much out there that I need to learn.
