Permalink Reply by Beth Strassman on May 15, 2012 at 11:22am I love this topic!! There are so many over the years. The ones that we don't really know much about and they are so cute and tiny (ie: mint) then they spread, and spread, and spread... My most challenging perennial is what we call here Spiderwort. I like it when it is in other people's gardens but in mine it just takes over and is leggy. I have a "wild garden" (no, not wildflower, just wild) out back that I put stuff in which I know will go bonkers. Love to watch the Spiderwort, Crown Vetch and Morning Glory fight it out all summer. This brings me to a question for all of YOU: what do you think about Monarda/Bee Balm as being one to add to the "wild garden?" Do you think it can take it or should I put it somewhere else that gets a little more attention? Oh, and Chameleon Plant, right there with ya on that one!!
Permalink Reply by Corin B Zone 6/7 on May 15, 2012 at 4:39pm I happen to love Monarda - and it's easy to weed out when it appears where is shouldn't but Hortunia (Cameleon)? Someone shoot me now.
I cut the spiderwort down completely when it gets ugly. Won't/can't kill it.

Permalink Reply by Zigmund Cieplinski on May 16, 2012 at 9:41am I find Monarda gets a lot of mildew and soon looks very sad for me and it does spread.
Permalink Reply by Beth Strassman on May 18, 2012 at 6:21pm Thanks Zigmund, I think it will be right at home fighting with the other plants!! It can SPREAD AWAY...
