I don't like pesticides either. However, we have a major problem with fire ants. They took over last year because of the weather conditions we had. I have used a product considered 99% organic that is said to be safe around food and kills the ants. We have 20 acres and are wanting to raise meat goats. Can't put Ant Killer pesticides on the land where live stock are or where food is being grown because it is deadly to the animals, food supply and us. There are so many suggestions on how to kill the ants, some of them way out there but no other alternative other than what I have used in garden seems to work. Have thought about buying some ant eaters....but the dog would probably kill them.
There is a fly that is being introduced into the country that is a parasite to the fire ant. We hope this fly will stop the infestation we are having and that it won't become a problem for us as well.
