I recently added 2 new members to my pack. Rascal and Chloe, pug/chihuahua mixes. They are settling in and seem to be enjoying life here. The other 3 ( Murphy, black lab/Dalmatian, Maggie, brown lab/red doberman and Asia, black lab/whippet) are finally realizing that the little ones are going to be a permanent fixture and have accepted them.
I can't tell you how much joy all of these fuzzy children bring me every day! (and yes, some frustration too, but mostly joy!).
Just wanted to share and also say hello as I am new to the group.

Permalink Reply by Minako Sargent Fukuda on April 17, 2011 at 11:16am Murphy is very jealous of the new little ones, He is and always has been my big baby and I try to spend one on one time with him daily. Asia and Maggy, my girls are OK with the new additions.
Rascal and Chloe belonged to a friend of mine and he got them as pups. Rascal is just 2 and Chloe is 1.5 yrs old. He never got them shots or fixed and when Chloe was hit by a car about a month ago I said ENOUGH! and paid for her vet and informed him that I they both would be living with me now. I am happy to say they are adapting well here and now have all of their vaccinations and have both been fixed.
It breaks my heart when people get a new puppy and then realize its more than just play time and cuteness, that there is actually some responsibility involved. Since I knew these two from the start it was a no brainier for me. I feel like I am the lucky one here...I work from home so I frequently take breaks thruout the day to take the whole crew out to play in the field. We all do each other good!
I will post photos soon....I have to get batteries for the camera.

The 2 little ones are fitting right in and the big ones are finally wecoming them (well aybe they are just resigned to the fact that we have new members!)
Anyways, here's Rascal and Chloe.
There is one of Chloe (standing) next to Murphy (lying down) for a little perspective.
Permalink Reply by Lee Findley on June 26, 2011 at 1:49pm Yes, indeed there are a lot of us! Currently I have two pugs; Mr Magoo and Freddie. Mr Magoo is 13 and near his end... he has been a joy every day of his life! Freddie is a rescue. At five years of age we have confirmed that he is blind- he is a happy boy, even so.
Our latest project is baby sitting two female pugs for six months until their owner relocates to a dog friendly location (it's a long story). We volunteered to do this for her, a complete stranger, because we know how hard it would be for us to be in that position.
Our garden plays host to my best buddy for 23 years, Max a blue-fronted amazon parrot, every time that it is sunny and warm. He rejoices in meowing, quacking and barking- much to the consternation of the local cats!
Along with Clark, the canary and various and sundry Poison Dart Frogs and a Day Gecko, our house is colorful... and thanks to Clark, very melodic!
We pet lovers are often a home-centric bunch. Between the plants, pets and partner I feel little need to be anywhere but at home. That is my idea of heaven.
Much love from Portland newcomer!
