ollie is a black cat with white feet. small and thin , less than a year. he lived at my sons house but the roomate did not take care of him and was moving. she put him outside. my son called me and said the cat was sick and told me the symptoms. I would not go to vet if he is sick we will have to put him asleep, I said as I can not afford medical bills.. well we brought him home, where compsky and zelda live.( on my photos) and good food, clean litter, fresh water. this cat is fine, saw vet today. he will be neutored next week. I am a little scared as the vet said he could have feline ? which can be transmitted to other cats and is deadly. ollie is healthy so it is a wait and see. If chompsky were to die I can not want to think of the heartache. so lets all say a pray that ollie is 100% well

Susan, your vet is probably referring to either FIV which is common called Feline Aids or feline Leukemia. Niether of which is not at all, and can not stress this enough, even remotely contagious to people or any other species. Any cat with an unknown history could have been exposed and a simple test will indicate this. It is not a death sentence or even and indication of future illness. Most cats who test positive for one or both of these diseases live long happy, healthy lives. While they are both contagious to other cats, there is no guaruntee that co-habitation is really the key. Both are transferred through body fluid such as blood. While it is possible, it isn not necessarily probable that Ollie is sick in any way. Fingers, toes and eyes all crossed for him and you.
